Brave Kids Volume 3- Short Stories to Inspire Our Future World-Changers

Chapter 19 of Brave Kids Volume 3 is written by Kelly Daugherty. The title of the story is Cancer Through My Eyes: Journal Entries of Mom's Brave Journey.

This story follows a young girl whose world is turned upside down when her mom is diagnosed with cancer. Through journal entries filled with honesty, fear, anger, and hope, she tries to make sense of everything changing around her. From Halloween costumes to chemo appointments, her story captures the quiet bravery it takes to face the unknown — and the power of finding connection, even in the darkest moments.

Loosely based on Kelly's own childhood experience when my mother became seriously ill, this story was written from the heart to help kids feel less alone in their grief, confusion, and courage.

Volume 1

After more than two decades of longing to write a children's book on grief and loss, the opportunity finally arose when I joined Holistic Mental Health and became part of the Brave Healer Productions community. Collaborating with two remarkable girls who shared a passion for supporting grieving siblings, we created a story that addresses coping with sibling loss. Our chapter, "One Rock at a Time: Coping with the Loss of Ruby," can be found in Chapter 8 of Brave Kids: Short Stories to Inspire Our Future World-Changers.

I'm thrilled to announce that this book is now available on Amazon! With a collection of 25 incredible stories that explore bravery in the face of various challenges like grief, bullying, and trying new things, we hope our chapter brings comfort to other grieving children. This book is a valuable resource for classrooms, libraries, and anyone with children aged 5 to 12 years old, as it contains stories that will undoubtedly resonate with every child.
